Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Perth course is an 8-Week program with 2.5 hour weekly classes, a 7 hour retreat day, course book and access to audio recordings to support you in establishing a daily mindfulness practice.

 

MBSR is the gold standard in secular, meaning non-religious, mindfulness education and support. Founded by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in 1979, MBSR has been the catalyst for the proliferation of mindfulness programs, in their many different forms, across the western world.

 

During this 8-week mindfulness training, you will learn ways you to ride the waves of life in a more resilient and responsive way, opening up the possibility for you to choose how you respond, rather than react to life’s stressors at home, school, work and in the community.

The Classes

During the classes you will learn practical ways for enhancing your awareness and managing the pressures of life. You will learn and practice mindfulness meditations including the body scan, mindful eating, mindful breathing, sitting and walking meditation and gentle mindful movement exercises. There will be some short lectures, exercises to explore and transform patterns of thinking and feeling, and time for questions and discussion.

Course Materials

In your first class, you will receive a 120 page detailed course book to assist you in your learning and online access to audio recordings of guided meditation instructions, to assist your home practice. Please bring course book to each class.

Daily Practice

The course is structured to help you engage in daily home guided meditation practices which are central to experiencing the sense of peace, joy and resilience that the program can offer. The skills and knowledge you will be developing can only be learned through direct experience over time created through the practice. 

Retreat Day

This eight week course includes a 7 hour retreat day, a time for you to immerse fully in the practices and tranquility of the meditations learnt during the 8-weeks.

Support

The teacher of your course, is available between sessions by phone or email to support you in practicing the skills learnt in your weekly MBSR classes.

Cost

I aim to make the benefits of attending the MBSR course available to anyone, no matter their personal circumstances, therefore if you are experiencing genuine financial hardship, please contact us. For those who can afford the fee, we ask that you pay the full course fee.

 

The venue for the in-person course allows for comfortable physical distancing.

The full course fee for in-person MBSR is $695, however, I do not want to exclude anyone from taking this course, and encourage you to be in touch to discuss payment plans or reduced course fees if you are experiencing financial hardship.

Mindfulness Based Parenting

Join us for this inspiring 8-week parenting program integrating two evidence based programs, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Circle of Security Parenting. Participation has the potential to bring more ease and peace into your relationships with your kids and yourself. Couples who attend receive a 10% discount.

Includes 27 hours of face to face teaching, retreat day, course book & access to digital recordings of meditations for you to do at home.

This course is offered in conjunction with Openground Mindfulness Training.

One to One Mindfulness Coaching and Support

If group based mindfulness skills training is not right for you please be in touch to discuss one to one mindfulness coaching. Each session is 1 hour. You can choose sessions based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course or Mindful Self-Compassion training.

 

Or you might like to take the whole of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) 8-week courses with me, one to one, fully online. For this version of MBSR or MSC, each class will be 1.5 hours. 

 

We can discuss what might be best for you in an initial 30 minute FREE phone consultation. The Mindful Coaching sessions are held via Zoom. If you haven't used Zoom before I am happy to support you in becoming familiar with this technology.
